Featured Artist for June is Kaylah Chilcott.
Kaylah is an emerging artist with an original edge, full of colour, using a mix of abstract backgrounds with realistic depictions of animals and imaginative figures. She works in acrylics on canvas. She already has a body of work, as well as being commissioned to paint pets.

Kaylah works with themes of life and death, and afterlife. The belief that when a person or animal dies, the physical matter remains. Has a soul left the carcass? Is the remaining body inert, or is there a semblance of the life that was there? These are questions we see in her art.

Kaylah also does paintings of pure abstraction, where the background becomes the painting with swirling colours on a mostly circular frame. Her pairing of and creation of fields of intensely harmonising and contrasting colours is aesthetically alluring.
